Desktop Engineer (VDI)
About the position
Desktop Engineer with expertise in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to support end-user computing in a large-scale healthcare environment. The role supports cloud-based VDI solutions and clinical workflows within Healthcare Systems of America, which operates 8 community hospitals across 3 states and serves patients across a broad network.
Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage VDI environments (Azure, Citrix, VMware). Ensure seamless access to clinical applications and data. Support system updates, performance tuning, and incident management. Collaborate with clinical IT teams on workflow improvements.
Requirements
5+ years of recent experience with desktop infrastructure in healthcare. Strong VDI implementation knowledge, including Azure Virtual Desktop. Familiarity with Meditech access and performance optimization. Understanding of HL7/FHIR protocols. ServiceNow ticketing experience. Critical thinking, problem solving, project management experience, ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, adaptability to changing priorities and schedules, and ability to quickly learn new technologies and provide instruction.
Nice-to-haves
Experience with large-scale clinical workflows, additional VDI platforms or advanced automation/scripting for desktop provisioning and management, prior experience supporting community hospitals or multi-site healthcare environments.
