Role Overview / Mission
This Principal Digital Marketing Manager position focuses on leading the affiliate partner channel and marketing technology initiatives. The role involves working with internal teams and external agencies to design, execute, and improve digital campaigns that meet Discover’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead cross-functional teams (product, creative, analytics, technology) to deliver marketing solutions that increase customer acquisition, retention, and revenue.
• Manage the full lifecycle of affiliate partnerships, including recruitment, onboarding, performance optimization, and compliance.
• Oversee the selection, implementation, and improvement of marketing technology platforms (e.g., CDPs, DMPs, DSPs, attribution tools) for data-driven decisions.
• Develop multi-channel campaigns with various ad formats, audience segmentation, and personalized messages to meet business goals.
• Work with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to get approvals, ensure brand guideline adherence, and address customer issues.
• Set up performance dashboards, analyze data, and refine strategies to meet or exceed targets for ROI, CPA, and LTV.
• Coordinate with internal creative teams, audience insight groups, and external agencies to ensure consistent messaging and smooth campaign execution.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope.
• Research and apply industry trends like AI optimization, privacy-focused targeting, and programmatic advertising to strategy.
Required Qualifications / Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of digital marketing experience, ideally in financial services or fintech. Candidates without a degree require 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience managing and growing affiliate programs, including contract negotiation and performance improvement.
• Familiarity with marketing automation platforms, data management tools, and analytics software (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Adobe Analytics, Tableau).
• Ability to analyze complex data and turn it into clear recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including influencing senior stakeholders.
• Proven project management skills, leading projects from start to finish within deadlines and budgets.
• Understanding of financial industry regulations, data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and advertising standards.
• Ability to develop strategic plans and manage execution details.
• Experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, and making decisions based on data.
• Ability to collaborate with design, copywriting, and product teams.
• Adaptability to changes in the fintech industry.
• Leadership skills to guide and align stakeholders.
• Focus on the customer experience in campaign decisions.
• Understanding of APIs, tag management solutions, and data integration.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
• Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
• Over 6 years of experience in digital marketing leadership roles.
• Experience with programmatic advertising, AI-based optimization, and audience tagging.
• Certifications like Google Ads or Meta Blueprint.
• Previous experience in a remote or distributed team.
• Experience mentoring junior marketers and building teams.
Location & Work Setup
This is a fully remote position. The company has a remote-first philosophy.
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary Range: $88,500 – $149,300 annually, depending on experience, education, and location.
