Industrial Designer

About the position

We are seeking a Remote Industrial Designer who combines creativity with a deep understanding of product usability, ergonomics, and design software. This role focuses on transforming conceptual sketches into tangible, user-centered products—both physical and digital-hybrid—by collaborating across disciplines to create prototypes that scale. The position is remote-eligible and supports a flexible, digital-first work environment using tools like Miro, Figma, Notion, and Slack.

Responsibilities

Design compelling, innovative product concepts rooted in practical application and real user needs; develop 3D models and iterate on design prototypes using industry-standard CAD and rendering tools; conduct design research, trend forecasting, and competitive analysis; partner with engineers and digital developers to align functionality with visual aesthetics; create technical documentation and product specifications for manufacturing handoff; integrate user feedback and usability data into design iterations; maintain quality control and brand consistency; deliver presentation-ready mockups and visual storytelling assets for stakeholder review.

Requirements

Proven experience in industrial or product design (ideally consumer electronics or smart devices); strong portfolio showing end-to-end projects from ideation through prototyping; exceptional proficiency with CAD modeling and rendering software (SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, KeyShot, V-Ray, Blender); experience translating user research into design decisions; comfort with virtual collaboration in distributed teams and tools such as Figma, Jira, and Asana; working knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM) principles; excellent visual communication and storytelling skills.

Nice-to-haves

Experience with photorealistic rendering and wireframe visualization; familiarity with AI-driven design automation, sustainability strategies, virtual maker spaces, and 3D printing workflows; prior experience in remote design sprints, async critiques, and leading cross-functional prototyping cycles. Professional development participation and conference experience are also advantageous.

Benefits

Fully remote setup with support for home office ergonomics and technology
Quarterly design retreats (remote or hybrid)
Professional development budget for courses, certifications, or conferences
Creative sabbatical policy after 3 years of service
Annual wellness stipend
Access to internal design labs, virtual maker spaces, and 3D printing support
