Designer (UI/UX; Data Visualization)
About the position
Epoch AI is seeking a designer to support UI/UX and data visualization work. This is an expression of interest for a future hire rather than an actively prioritized opening. The role involves translating complex research into intuitive, engaging, and high-impact designs for websites, dashboards, and data visualizations. The position is fully remote and Epoch is able to hire in many countries; applications are rolling. Applicants should submit materials in English and professional-level English proficiency is required.
Responsibilities
Design responsive user interfaces, graphs, and visualizations; collaborate with internal teams to gather project requirements; uncover design solutions to user and company needs; create design specifications such as specs, mock-ups, and prototypes; partner with engineers to ensure adherence to design systems and visual consistency. Depending on interests and skills, the role may also involve contributing to the design library and participating in user research and usability testing.
Requirements
2+ years experience designing interactive digital products; a portfolio demonstrating experience in UI/UX and/or data visualization; ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment; strong grasp of typography, color, and layout principles; ability to work comfortably in Figma (including auto-layout and components); interest in Epoch AI’s work. Nice-to-haves
Familiarity with Epoch AI’s research or related topics; experience with scientific communication; experience in illustration and branding; familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JS); experience with Python visualization libraries such as Matplotlib or Plotly; good written communication skills.
