Product Designer
About the position
PadSplit is hiring a Product Designer to support the Member Growth team, focused on the member side of a two-sided marketplace. This role centers on designing member-facing experiences that help the right members join PadSplit while protecting hosts, communities, and the platform from fraud and abuse. Work focuses on growth, trust, and risk where clarity, fairness, and empathy matter.
Responsibilities
Design member-facing flows for screening, identity verification, and income verification; shape UX around API-driven identity, income, and background verification services; balance conversion with trust and fraud prevention; collaborate cross-functionally with Product, CX, Data, Legal, and Engineering; handle edge cases (failures, delays, reviews, retries, denials) with clear, respectful experiences; clarify for members what is happening and why during sensitive interactions; design collections-related experiences with empathy, transparency, and dignity; iterate using research and data to identify friction and test improvements.
Requirements
Experience designing complex multi-step or high-stakes product flows (ideally fintech, marketplaces, or regulated environments); strong qualitative and quantitative research fluency; comfort with risk-aware design involving identity, income, money, verification, or fraud; working knowledge of API-based systems and how latency/errors/partial success affect UX; clear communication skills to translate complex requirements into simple, human-centered language; systems thinking and understanding of downstream effects of design decisions; proven cross-functional collaboration and pragmatic judgment balancing growth, safety, and fairness.
