Industrial Designer IV
About the position
The Industrial Designer IV at Generac is responsible for leading design collaboration efforts across the company, influencing company strategy through design, and extending the design philosophy across the organization. The role advances the company’s design philosophy, leads strategic design initiatives aligned with business objectives, and oversees translation of innovative concepts into executable design projects that elevate the brand for global markets. The position involves mentoring design staff, integrating research and innovation into product design, and working in a fast-paced agile global team environment.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute strategic design projects from insight to market launch; collaborate with research teams to integrate new innovations into product design; direct development and refinement of Visual Brand Language (VBL) across product lines; mentor and manage Industrial Designers I through III; oversee complex design projects ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and brand standards; manage design process from conception through production; deliver and adapt to complex projects within tight deadlines; occasional travel as required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent; minimum of 6 years of design experience; proficient with advanced design software including SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Suite, Creo, and Sketchbook Pro; ability to create and implement VBL standards; excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills; ability to multitask and work in a global team environment; must be able to perform physical demands including talking, hearing, using hands, standing/walking, occasional stooping/bending/reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 25-50 pounds.

Experience leading strategic problem-solving initiatives; skill in applying ethical design principles; ability to communicate sophisticated visualization of design concepts; prior experience advancing design philosophy and managing cross-functional strategic design initiatives.
