Sales Project Manager – Retrofit
About the position
The Retrofit SPM leads the LTS Sales project team in the competitive effort to win retrofit business by bridging commercial strategy with deep technical understanding. The SPM ensures that proposed TGW solutions are not only competitively positioned but also technically feasible, implementable, and operable within a customer’s existing warehouse environment. In this role, the SPM engages early with customers—including Project Leads, IT departments, and Operations teams—to thoroughly analyze current distribution processes. These insights are used to validate project viability and to design optimal upgrade and enhancement solutions that meet business, operational, and technical requirements.
Responsibilities
Conduct onsite visits to TGW customer facilities to assess existing operational and technical environments. Lead and contribute to RFI and RFP response activities, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Participate in prospect calls, design workshops, and review meetings across all project stages. Collaborate closely with customers’ operational stakeholders to define requirements and solution expectations. Develop process maps, detailed requirement documents, and feature specifications to support solution clarity. Coordinate with internal teams and technical experts/specialists on preliminary solution designs. Provide input for cost estimates and support the development of proposal packages. Support hand‑over activities to software realization, retrofit solution design, and application engineering teams. Interpret and analyze RFPs, validate operational and data analyses, and review presentation materials. Participate in WCS‑to‑PLC integration workshops and technical design sessions with clients. Review and provide feedback on functional specification documents. Perform additional duties as assigned to support sales, design, and internal coordination processes.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Operations Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum five (5) years of experience in high-level design or operation of diverse intralogistics or comparable software systems, or related. Up to 25% of travel (domestic and international) required. Understanding of automated warehouse systems. Ability to map operational activities to TGW solution requirements. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Experience with material handling equipment (e.g., shuttle systems, miniload cranes, conveyors, pick stations) and supply chain software packages. Working knowledge of PLC technology. Experience implementing highly-automated intralogistics solutions. Experience optimizing supply chain strategies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Physical requirements: ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods; ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial/warehouse environments; ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds; ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices; ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations. Customer sites may require background checks.
Nice-to-haves
Experience with material handling equipment and supply chain software packages, working knowledge of PLC technology, and prior experience implementing highly-automated intralogistics solutions. Advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and strong communication skills are advantageous.
