Staff Product Designer, Data Platform – Analytics & Data Experience
About the position
We’re seeking a Staff Product Designer to shape the future of analytics and data experiences at arenaflex. You will design intuitive, end-to-end workflows that help data and analytics engineers go from intent to trusted insight quickly—reducing cognitive load, removing toil, and making the right path the easy path. You’ll create coherent journeys across discovery, development and orchestration, semantic and metrics modeling, and analysis and reporting, unifying experience among analytics tools and integrations with minimal context switching and a consistent mental model. Your work will surface relationships and dependencies (for example, lineage across tables, models, metrics, and reports) and will be grounded in observability and governance so practitioners can trust what they build and use.
Responsibilities
Lead design strategy and vision for analytics and data experiences spanning multiple teams; define, evolve, and drive adoption of scalable design patterns and components; identify opportunities through user research and technical insight; create cohesive end-to-end experiences that reduce cognitive load. Drive end-to-end design for interdependent data workflows (development, modeling, orchestration, analysis, troubleshooting); craft and validate prototypes; establish scalable design practices and foundational patterns; scope and negotiate realistic deliverables; mentor designers and partner teams. Partner with product and engineering leadership to influence long-term strategy, facilitate design workshops, build consensus on complex direction, and articulate design visions to senior leadership.
Requirements
8+ years as a Product Designer (or equivalent experience). Experience designing analytics/data platform tools, developer/data tools, or analogous complex technical products. Strong portfolio demonstrating system-level product work and design leadership across multiple teams. Proven track record leading initiatives from concept to launch. Proficiency in design tools (Figma, etc.) and prototyping technologies. Strong systems thinking and ability to design scalable solutions for complex data/analytics challenges. Literacy in analytics and data engineering workflows (e.g., Git-based / dbt-style patterns), fluency in semantic and metrics modeling and headless BI/semantic layer patterns, and ability to design data-dense, system-oriented interfaces (lineage graphs, dependencies, metric lifecycle) with embedded trust signals. Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, mentoring, and strong communication to technical audiences.
Nice-to-haves
Applied AI/ML-enhanced experience (for example, conversational queries, guided analysis) and experience integrating governed metrics into BI/reporting tools and designing report-builder UX with strong defaults and appropriate constraints.
