Architectural Designer/Project Manager
About the position
We are seeking an Architectural Designer with strong experience in residential home design to join our team. This role focuses on the design, documentation, and coordination of single-family and multi-family residential projects from concept through construction. This is a remote position with flexible working hours and the opportunity to work on diverse residential projects.
Responsibilities
Design & Planning: Develop residential design concepts for custom homes, production homes, townhomes, and small multi-family residential buildings; produce site plans, floor plans, elevations, and 3D studies; participate in client design meetings and internal design reviews; research zoning requirements and residential building codes. Construction Documents: Produce detailed architectural drawings and plans using software such as Revit, Bluebeam, and SketchUp; prepare permit and construction drawing sets; develop wall sections, details, and assemblies; coordinate structural, MEP, and civil consultant drawings; assist in specification development for residential materials and systems. Construction Support: Respond to RFIs and submittals; assist with construction administration tasks; support field coordination and site visits as needed. Visualization & Presentation: Produce renderings and presentation graphics; prepare client presentation packages and design boards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture or related field; 3–8+ years of architectural design experience (residential preferred); strong knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes and zoning basics, wood framing and light-gauge framing systems; proficiency in Revit (required), AutoCAD, SketchUp or similar modeling software, and Adobe Creative Suite. Key traits: strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; comfortable working in fast-paced development or design-build environments; strong communication and coordination skills; problem-solver mindset with practical construction awareness.
Nice-to-haves
Experience working on projects from concept through construction; experience with production home or developer-driven residential design; familiarity with energy code compliance and residential envelope design; understanding of value engineering and efficient detailing; working toward architectural licensure or interest in pursuing licensure.
